TAAT collective has been working since 2012 to stage encounters in built or found spaces under the name HALL33. This resulted in a long series of installations and workshops for two strangers. HALL12 is part of an ongoing collective artistic research project by TAAT in collaboration with a group of European art professionals in Athens, Brussels, Amsterdam and Riga. HALL12 in Riga is developed by director Ieva Džindža and scenographer Līga Zepa.
For HALL12 in Riga they are exploring psycho-geography and how meeting a stranger, and drifting together mirrors your individual relationship with the urban environment. Two strangers at a time are invited to participate in the derive (drifting in a situationist sense) through Maskavas forštrate to explore being repelled or enchanted by what they find. The togetherness with a stranger during this drift creates content and resonance with particular moods and ambiences, following each other’s footsteps and gazes.
Spectators are invited through a ‘domino-selection’ where participants choose participants of the next days performance, investing in a viral network of human connections.
The findings of this experiment will become an integral part of TAAT’s Live Archive.

To prevent the spread of Covid-19 please don’t attend the event if you feel sick, recently have travelled abroad, have been in contact with Covid-19 patient or have to self-isolate!
